Analyst Q&A 2
UL certification and delivery timing
Q (Ted Jackson · Northland): He asked if the 29 units were produced or actually delivered, and for details and a timeline on UL testing and certification. He also asked whether the unit shortfall was due to chassis versus powertrain and about implications of Bluebird's chassis acquisition.
A: Management said the 29 units were produced, not all counted as deliveries; some have been paid for and some remain in the factory awaiting pickup and delivery. They said they have UL approval at the component level, are doing system-level testing, expect one standard approval in the next couple of weeks while another may take longer, but nothing is gating customer deliveries; the shortfall came from powertrain delays and a few smaller truck orders and those orders are expected within the next year or so, some within the next couple of quarters. They said Bluebird's acquisition could be complementary, noted Bluebird has bought their powertrains, and said the capacity represents large volume opportunities (20 thousand units/year).
"We have UL approval at the component level as you mentioned." — Dakota Semler (CEO)
PowerHub design, cell supply, inventory and costs
Q (Craig Irwin · Roth Capital Partners): He asked why the PowerHub is 3.1 megawatt-hours instead of 5.5, whether they will keep using EVE cells, and how customer conversations shaped the design. He also asked about expectations for inventory liquidation and whether June-quarter SG&A and R&D cuts were one-time or repeatable.
A: Management said the PowerHub integrates the DC block with the power conversion system and controller to output AC power in one enclosure, which lowers cost, speeds deployment, and lets it plug directly into conventional gensets; their primary supplier for this product is Goshen, which provides domestic cells and packs to meet US content and FOCI requirements. They said inventory turnover will improve as the mix shifts to hubs and powertrains (title transfers at the factory), and by building to order and cutting demo/loaner inventory they aim for multiple inventory turns per year to help release cash. On SG&A and R&D, they said much of the decrease was from smaller purchases of R&D materials and revenue effects, and they expect spending to be similar to levels in the first quarter.
"I would say we should expect it to be at the level similar to what we had earlier this year in the first quarter." — Liana Pogosyan (CFO)
