Analyst Q&A 2
Hub safety certification progress
Q (Ted Jackson · Northland): He asked if the 29 “On the Hub” units were produced or delivered and asked for details and timing on UL listing testing. He also asked whether the unit shortfall was mainly chassis-related and whether Bluebird’s Ford chassis move affects XOS.
A: Dakota said the 29 units were produced, not all delivered, and some are paid for but still in the factory awaiting pickup. He said they have UL component approval and are doing system-level testing; one standard should be approved in the next couple of weeks while others may take longer, but current testing does not stop customer deliveries. He said some shortfall came from powertrain delays and a few smaller truck orders pushed back, and that Bluebird’s acquisition could be complementary with potential large-volume opportunity given its 20 thousand units/year capacity.
"There are a few different standards that we are going after, 1 of which we should have approval on in the next couple of weeks." — Dakota Semler (CEO)
PowerHub design and cells; inventory and costs
Q (Craig Irwin · Roth Capital Partners): He asked why the PowerHub is 3.1 megawatt-hours versus Ford’s 5.5, whether XOS will keep using EVE cells, and how customer needs shaped the product. He also asked about inventory liquidation, cash release, and whether the June quarter SG&A and R&D cuts were one-offs or continuing.
A: Dakota explained they combined the DC battery block with the power conversion system and controller so the unit outputs AC power, which lowers cost, speeds deployment, and lets it plug directly into conventional gensets; he said the primary cell/pack supplier for this product is Goshen to meet domestic and FOCI requirements. He said inventory turnover will improve as the mix shifts to hubs and powertrains and by building to order, aiming for multiple inventory turns per year. Liana said the SG&A and R&D decreases were from smaller R&D purchases and revenue effects, and levels should be similar to the first quarter of this year.
"And so these are all built with Goshen packs." — Dakota Semler (CEO)
