Analyst Q&A 8
mortgage market share and product differences
Q (Toni Kaplan · Morgan Stanley): How does TransUnion differentiate its credit report from other bureaus? Also asked about TransUnion's share in the prequalification mortgage market and trends.
A: Management said their mortgage revenue performance shows they have held or increased market share. They said they lead with 2.5 years of trended credit data, strong fintech coverage, expanded alternative data, and neutrality with resellers helps in a bi-merge environment.
"In our case, know, we lead the industry in core trended credit data." — Christopher A. Cartwright (CEO)
why some U.S. financial subsegments slowed
Q (Andrew Steinerman · JPMorgan): Why did card and banking and consumer lending decelerate while auto accelerated this quarter? How should we interpret these moves?
A: Management said quarter-to-quarter you see deceleration from earlier in the year, but underlying market conditions remain healthy. They advised looking at two-year trends, where growth is steadier, and noted rate sensitivity ranks mortgage most, then auto, then consumer lending and card.
"When you look at it on a quarter over quarter basis throughout 2026, you definitely do see a deceleration from 10% growth in Q1 to 8% to 5%?" — Todd Cello (CFO)
India growth and outlook
Q (Jeffrey Meuler · Baird): What is driving faster-than-expected acceleration in India and the growth potential over the next 12 months?
A: Management said India’s recovery reflects better consumer and commercial volumes and improved RBI comfort with unsecured lending. They cited broader data furnishing, redeveloped credit scores, and momentum for TrueIQ analytics as reasons they see high-teens organic growth potential over the next 3 years.
"It is a combination of some market improvements, both on the consumer lending in the commercial side with better volumes." — Christopher A. Cartwright (CEO)
Q4 reinvestment and tech spend
Q (Andrew Nicholas · William Blair): You mentioned reinvesting margin in Q4 on technology and legal costs. Is this only a Q4 item or will it continue into next year?
A: Management said some opportunistic technology investments were made in Q3 to enable solutions growth and those investments may be made when opportunities arise. They explained they are finishing US migration to the OneTru platform this year and are accelerating global rollout to drive revenue and cost benefits.
"we are approaching the end of the migration in The US of The US credit customers to the 1 True platform." — Christopher A. Cartwright (CEO)
emerging verticals: media, tenant, employment
Q (Faiza Alwy · Deutsche Bank): Why were Media and tenant/employment screening softer, and is the Q4 comp a timing issue?
A: Management said insurance is the anchor of emerging verticals and performed well, while tenant and employment were down because U.S. housing moves slowed. For media, audience product migration to 1 True caused temporary usage declines but the new TruAudience feedback is strong and should resume growth over time.
"We are in the process of migrating customers from the legacy platforms to the more functional and attractive 1 true audience and activation platform." — Christopher A. Cartwright (CEO)
international risks and growth
Q (Simon Klintch · Rothschild and Co): Any concerns about international unpredictability and how you navigate it, given strong India and LatAm growth but volatility in places like Brazil?

"When I think about the various countries, obviously Canada has done terrific job and continues to compound above market rates." — Christopher A. Cartwright (CEO)
tailwinds to offset headwinds next year
Q (Ashish Sabadra · RBC): With interest expense and potential mortgage weakness as headwinds, what tailwinds will help meet midterm guidance?
A: Management pointed to international growth, fraud and marketing product growth, and rollout of TrueIQ analytics to more markets as tailwinds. They also highlighted strong free cash flow and capital allocation flexibility, including an increased $2,000,000,000 buyback authorization.
"And then on top of that in the emerging markets, I mean, we still have products like our fraud solutions and our marketing solutions that can reach another year of growth and sustain it." — Christopher A. Cartwright (CEO)
FICO preferred, Vantage adoption, FirstLook details
Q (Kelsey Zhu · Autonomous): What do you expect for FICO preferred adoption, VantageScore adoption in 2027-2028, and will FirstLook be available through resellers? Does this create double inquiry fees for lenders?
A: Management said details of the FICO preferred program are still being worked out and contractual terms are not finalized; discussions with FICO are ongoing and some parts are confidential. They stressed VantageScore performs well at much lower cost and TransUnion will provide free or $0.99 credit reports to support migration; FirstLook is their innovation to lower evaluation costs and allows a later pull of an additional score within a short window.
"What I will say is, as is typically the case, there is still work to do to translate between the press release and contractual terms and operational requirements to make the program, a reality." — Christopher A. Cartwright (CEO)
