Analyst Q&A 2
Why profit fell and summer bookings
Q (Private Investor): They asked why net profit fell in Q2 and for details on summer travel bookings and the quarter profitability outlook.
A: They said domestic travel grew steadily, but outbound faced headwinds—Middle East and Africa recorded over 20% year-over-year decrease of transaction volume. Outbound tours were about 30% of total GMV compared to over 1/3 last year, and other revenues decreased about 70% year-over-year mainly due to reduction in fees for advertising services we provided. Domestic self-guided Hotel + X products grew but are usually less profitable; summer bookings were steady domestically while outbound was mixed, and they will try to achieve the profitability for another quarter.
"In the second quarter, our other revenues decreased about 70% year-over-year, mainly due to reduction in fees for advertising services we provided." — Dunde Yu (CEO·CHAIR)
