Analyst Q&A 1
Fuel impact on guidance; entertainment margin; book fairs
Q (Brendan Michael McCarthy · Sidoti & Company): The analyst asked if higher fuel costs are a new development and whether those costs are already included in fiscal 2027 guidance. He also asked about the drivers of the Entertainment segment's margin expansion and whether Book Fairs growth is above expectations and coming from new or returning schools.
A: Management said the higher fuel costs are coming from international markets because of the war, and some of those costs were already anticipated in the full-year forecast, which is why they are reaffirming guidance. They said the Entertainment margin expansion is driven by operating leverage, business mix and fixed depreciation from the acquisition. For Book Fairs they said early metrics are very strong: fair counts are at or above expectations and above last year, larger-school fairs are increasing, revenue per fair is expected to be good but needs more fairs to fully validate, new models are getting strong response, and growth comes from both returning and new schools.
"So we're in line with everything right now, and that's the reason why we're reaffirming our guidance." — Haji Glover (CFO)
