Analyst Q&A 1
Pricing and unit sales, tariffs, cost cuts, cash
Q (Anthony Lebiedzinski · Sidoti): He asked how pricing compared to unit volumes for core Flexsteel products in 1Q. He also asked about planned price increases (including a possible January tariff-driven increase), details and margin effects of cost savings, the negative cash from operations, and capital allocation after the April buyback.
A: They said average pricing was up about 10% year-over-year, and they saw meaningful unit volume growth with strategic accounts, new health and wellness items, and immersive sound solutions. They plan a roughly 2%-3% average price adjustment, will consider pricing if Section 232 tariffs rise from 25% to 30% on January 1, and noted ocean freight nearly doubled and diesel is increasing raw material costs. To offset costs they will drive cost savings and productivity across the supply chain (Juárez plant flow redesign, platforming, better logistics), said incremental inflation this quarter was probably somewhere in the $1.5 million-$2 million range and similar in Q2; Q1 cash outflows are seasonal and they expect positive cash later, and capital allocation remains focused on a strong balance sheet, productivity projects, reinvestment where attractive, and returning capital responsibly.
