Analyst Q&A 1
Why sales grew: more customers or bigger baskets
Q (Jeremy Hamblin · Craig Hallum): He asked what portion of the 10%+ same-store sales came from more transactions versus basket changes (AUR and units per transaction). He also asked which product categories drove the recent uptick.
A: About half of the quarterly same-store sales growth came from increased transaction count, and management said they have not publicly released all the details around average unit retail and average transaction. They said momentum continued into Q3 with about a 25% 2-year stack, strong back-to-school results, consistent performance from men's, kids and family basics, and a step change in women's as trend modules reached stores and missy categories grew.
"About half of our growth is coming through increased transaction count." — Kenneth Duane Seipel (CEO)
